July 2024
We thought to ask a handful of key professionals in Singapore's health space to share their current reading, as well as recommendations from the past. I thank everyone who has shared their selections with us.
Some of the books currently being read are newly released, others not. In six months time perhaps they will be remembered, perhaps not. Other books in the list are those that have remained in the readers' headspace, influencing them over time. Health and longevity on the bookshelf.
Scroll down and discover. Click on the image and you will be directed to a relevant online retailer page or our own review. What books have you enjoyed reading? Make your suggestion at the bottom of page and perhaps we can enjoy and share them in the future.

The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ
Dr. Giulia Enders
Tashiya shares "We continue to underestimate the importance of our gut – it is a key vital organ, as important as the heart and brain! Personal experiences play a vital role in our health and wellbeing, and Dr Enders, based on her own journey, showcases the importance of the gut and why we need to keep it healthy. This book has more recently been followed with the Netflix documentary (2024) – ‘Hack Your Health: The Secrets of your Gut’ – where Dr Enders and her colleagues explain how to make your gut work for you. We are all individuals and should be treated as such.
Adopting sustainable healthy habits based on the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine (healthy eating, mental wellbeing, healthy relationships, physical activity, minimising harmful substances, and restorative sleep), is how we move ahead with optimising health and wellbeing, and it is how I love to practice medicine."
